Reviews of The Birches at Harleysville
Reviews are very important to us and are the best way to let others know if our team has provided you with a great experience.
We wanted to comment on our family’s experience with The Birches over the last 9 months. The bright spot for us was the excellent level of attention and care he received in “daybreak” area. We always felt confident that [he] was well cared for by a friendly and compassionate staff. It would be tough to single out any one of the caregivers because they were all excellent with Dad and we felt fortunate to have [such] a good team looking after him, which gave us peace of mind. We were impressed that everyday the residents were dressed and out of their room in the common areas with activities to help the time go by each day. Special thanks to the exceptional daybreak care team for all you do each day and every day.
The good thing about Birches at Arbour Square Senior Community is there is no entrance fee. There is no buy-in. It’s a month-to-month lease, which was very nice. It’s absolutely beautiful. I was able to get a one-bedroom apartment. Right now I’m a little bit handicapped and I have to use a wheelchair, and this apartment is handicap accessible for everything. I met the staff, and they were very friendly. When I went to visit, each resident took the time to say hello. It seemed like a good fit for me right now. I did like the idea that if you had to move out, it was only a 30-day notice. Three meals were included. Everything is accessible, even the freezer. From my wheelchair, I can reach the freezer, open the door, and reach whatever is in there. The shower and the bathroom setup was absolutely perfect. It had a beautiful shower bench that all I have to do is slide onto. We had a complimentary lunch, and the servers were perfect. They help you if you’re handicapped. If you told them what you wanted, they went and got it for you. It was a huge dining area, there were tablecloths, and your silverware was wrapped up in napkins. It seemed like a nice atmosphere. They have a movie theater, a café, happy hour, plenty of activities, trips, and a bus that will take you where you need to go. In two weeks, I’ll be there. What I saw, I liked. They have a gigantic library, a card room, a game room, and nice areas if you wanted to sit outside. My room looks outside the gazebo. On each floor, they had areas where you could sit and read. It’s very flexible. They do have a physical therapy department there. If you need help there is someone on-call 24/7. There is staff available to help you for anything you need. I put a $500 deposit, and that is refundable. In two weeks, if I change my mind, I would get that back. The woman who showed me around shared everything that was available, but there was no pressure. I’m looking forward to moving in.
My mother has been at The Birches for several months now and I can’t tell you how pleased I am at the care she is receiving. The facility is very neat and clean, the staff is courteous, thoughtful and extremely helpful and my mother raves about the food! My mother is socializing, partaking in some of the numerous activities that are available, and taking advantage of this beautiful facility and all it has to offer. My mother is happy, well taken care of and able to enjoy this phase of her life.
I really do not have any areas of improvement to suggest here. We liked the place because it was close to home, and the fact that they offer the right level of care for my loved one’s particular needs. It’s great that they have a speech therapist as well as occupational and physical therapists. As for the activities, they seem well suited for the majority of the residents. Also, the activities director has set up bus trips where the residents can just go out for a ride and enjoy the nice scenery. It’s in a great location and there are pretty farmland and fields to look at.
When my mother-in-law needed to be placed in a facility, my husband and I decided to tour The Birches at Harleysville. We often heard about their reputation, which was very good and has remained that way. Our tour especially enhanced that. Location was important to us as well and they are conveniently located close to doctors’ offices, shopping and two hospitals if necessary. When we entered the facility, the first thing we noticed was a very cozy fireplace in the lobby. The facility was absolutely immaculate. During our initial tour it was clearly evident that the marketing director was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. Out of the other facilities we visited, this one was clearly the most kind and generous to their visitors and residents. The staff and residents were happy. We especially liked the idea that everything was on one floor and it would allow her to navigate very easily. The food looked and smelled delicious. She has now been a resident for approximately three months. She has a lovely cozy private room. She has made friends and, after many years of living alone, she once again has real purpose in life. I would highly recommend and have recommended The Birches at Harleysville to anyone looking for quality care for their loved one.
I moved into The Birches a few weeks ago after spending the last almost four years at the independent living nextdoor. Everyone has been so nice, welcoming, and helpful in my transition here. It's like they could not do enough and that they want to do more for you. The community is clean, the meals are good and everyone is very friendly. From my first meeting with the executive director who came out to my place nextdoor, to my tour with marketing, they truly live up to their great reputation in the area. Lots of beautiful people here and I am happy that I made the move.
I am Senior Living Advisor and I recently toured The Birches. I have to say it was a very welcoming and heartwarming place to visit. The residents were so friendly and eager to tell me how great their community was. Two ladies even let me in their own rooms and gave me a tour. Just was very touching to see. I hope I can bring some more residents to the Birches one day! Thanks Libby for a great experience.
The staff took wonderful care of my dad. They all are such loving and caring people. They made us feel like family. I couldn't ask for a better place to care for my dad when we were no longer able to do so. I especially would like to thank Jen and Kathleen. They made my dad feel special in his final days. They both have a special place in our hearts…they are amazing people. We are truly grateful for all the staff at the Birches.
I attended an event at The Birches and it was so fun! The community is clean and beautiful, and it's clear that the staff love their jobs and their residents. The residents I spoke to are very happy. Highly recommend The Birches if you're looking for a safe, comfortable community for your family member.
In the last 18 months, my brother and sister-in-law have lived in the memory unit at the Birches. The staff has been helpful and sensitive to their needs. My only challenge at time has been to keep track of their clothing following laundry on the premises. I understand this is a problem in many communities. But I am indeed grateful that we found the Birches for my brother and sister-in-law. I am so grateful that we found the Birches.
